Eugene G. McGuire, Ph.D.
Eugene McGuire is the founder and president of ProcessWorks, Inc., a process improvement consulting, training and appraisal services firm headquartered in Rockville, MD. ProcessWorks, Inc. is a SEI Partner for SCAMPI Appraisal Services and for the Introduction to CMMI Training Course.

Dr. McGuire is a CMMI SCAMPI High Maturity Lead Appraiser. He has functioned as a SCAMPI Lead Appraiser or SCAMPI Team Member on over 60 SCAMPI Class A appraisals, including high maturity appraisals, as well as on numerous SCAMPI Class B and SCAMPI Class C appraisals. Overall, he has conducted or participated in more than 200 formal appraisals for SW-CMM, CMMI v1.1 and CMMI-DEV over the past 15 years. Additionally, Dr. McGuire holds a Master Six Sigma Black Belt Certificate from Villanova University.

He is also an authorized instructor for the 3-day Introduction to CMMI course and frequently conducts this course in both public and private offerings. In addition, he has conducted software process improvement, project management and team training courses for many commercial and government clients throughout the United States.

Since 1997, Dr. McGuire has worked with premier public and private organizations in all forms of SW-CMM, CMMI v1.1 and CMMI-DEV consulting, training and appraisals. His background includes expertise in the technical and organizational aspects of IS leadership, project management, software development methodologies, software process improvement models (CMM, CMMI, ISO), and emerging technologies. Dr. McGuire was a tenured Associate Professor teaching information systems at American University in Washington, D.C from 1990 to 2003. Prior to joining American University he had 14 years of computer industry experience in software project management.

He has edited two books for Idea Group Publishing: Software Process Improvement: Concepts and Applications and Information Systems Innovation and Diffusion: Issues and Directions.


Karen McKeown
Karen McKeown is Vice President of ProcessWorks, Inc., a process improvement consulting, training and appraisal services firm headquartered in Rockville, MD. ProcessWorks, Inc. is a SEI Partner for SCAMPI Appraisal Services and for the Introduction to CMMI Training Course.

Ms. McKeown is authorized by the SEI as a SCAMPI Lead Appraiser for the CMMI® and as an Instructor for the Introduction to CMMI® course. In addition, Ms. McKeown is certified by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association as a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and holds a Master Six Sigma Black Belt Certificate from Villanova University.

Ms. McKeown has functioned as a SCAMPI Lead Appraiser on 35 SCAMPI Class A appraisals, of which 3 were high maturity (Level 5) appraisals. She has participated as a SCAMPI Team Member on numerous SCAMPI Class A appraisals, including 2 high maturity appraisals, as well as on many SCAMPI Class B and SCAMPI Class C appraisals for CMMI v1.1 and CMMI-DEV.

Previously, Ms. McKeown was a SEI-authorized SCE Lead Evaluator and led or participated in over 30 SW-CMM Software Capability Evaluations.

Ms. McKeown has more than 20 years experience in software process improvement, project management, information systems auditing and software quality assurance.

Prior to joining ProcessWorks, Ms. McKeown was the Corporate Director of CMM Compliance for a global IT service provider. She was responsible for the planning and implementation of the Software Engineering Institute’s Capability Maturity Model, and successfully guided over 40 organizational entities to CMM Levels 3 and 4.

Ms. McKeown holds a B.S. in Computer Information Systems and has formal training in Statistical Process Control and Total Quality Management techniques.
